Etienne Henry Gilson, özellikle ortaçağ felsefe tarihi alanında önemli eserler kaleme almış ve çeşitli araştırma merkezlerinin kurulmasına önayak olmuş ünlü bir Fransız düşünürüdür. Gilson, Yeni-Thomasçılık adı verilen felsefe akımına mensuptur. Ortaçağ felsefesi ve modern felsefe üzerine çok sayıda eser yazmıştır. Tanrı ve Felsefe eseri, metafiziğin en önemli konusu olan Tanrının varlığı problemini ele alır. Gilson'a göre, akıl Tanrının varlığı konusunda çok önemli ve ikna edici şeyler söyleyecek güçtedir. Felsefe tarihi, bu hükmün doğru olduğunu göstermektedir. Etienne Henry Gilson is a prominent French thinker who has received essential works, particularly in the field of history of medieval philosophy and has led the establishment of various research centers. Gilson is the follower of the philosophical movement called Neo-Thomism. He has written many works on medieval and modern philosophy. His God and Philosophy deals with the problem of the existence of God, which is the most crucial subject of metaphysics. According to Gilson, the intellect is capable of telling significant and persuasive expressions about the existence of God. History of philosophy shows that this judgment is right. The fact that strictly positivist and materialist views, which suggest that thinking of religious matters do not provide high benefit, has lost the appeal of the world of science and thought, has made the relation to God and philosophy a severe philosophical problem again.
