Medih şiirleri Arap şiirinin en meşhur ürünlerindendir. Medih şiirinin bu denli meşhur olmasındaki etkenlerden biri de övülen kişinin bu türe gösterdiği teveccühtür. Yerel yöneticiler ve devlet adamları şairin kendisi hakkında söylediği medihlerine hediye ve ihsanlarla karşılık vermiştir. Bu sebeple kimi şairler medih şiirini bir tür kazanç elde etme aracı olarak görmüşlerdir. Bu makalede Osmanlı döneminde yaşamış Arap şair Mencek Paşa’nın medihlerinden örneklerle yönetici sınıfının medih şiiri üzerindeki etkisi konusu incelenmektedir.

Praise poems are among the most famous products of Arabic poetry. One of the factors that make the madeeh poem so famous is the favor shown by the praised person to this literary genre. Local administrators and statesmen responded to the poet's praises about him with gifts and benevolence. For this reason, some poets have seen the poem of praise as a means of gaining income. In this article, the effect of the ruling class on the madeeh poetry is examined with examples from the madeehs of the Arab poet Manjack Pasha who lived in the Ottoman period.
