Theological Analysis of Searle's Views on Biological Naturalism and Artificial Intelligence

In this article, Searle's concept of Biological Naturalism is evaluated in the context of artificial intelligence and theism. In order to make a sound evaluation, in this study, developments in artificial intelligence are first discussed in a brief historical framework. After briefly mentioning the two main views on artificial intelligence and the reasons for the differences in these views, the mind-body problem, Searle's Chinese room experiment and the understanding of biological naturalism are examined. Ultimately, the limits of possibility have been questioned in the context of theistic religions and theologically it has been discussed whether consciousness is possible in artificial intelligence.
